This summer, the GIS community will gather in San Diego, California, to participate in the 28th ESRI International User Conference. GIS users have accomplished many great things in the last quarter century. The technology has evolved from a software tool used in computer labs to a common language that our global society is using to communicate, collaborate, and make better decisions about our planet.
The application areas are diverse: emergency management, biodiversity, conservation, road management, agriculture, energy, health, education, law enforcement, weather, forestry, telecommunications, cadastral, logistics, humanitarian support, commercial/retail, financial services, and an array of other fields. The scope of your work reflects how we manage businesses, sustain natural resources, and serve society.
I would like to share examples of your work as part of the opening session of the User Conference and invite you to submit up to three images to be considered for presentation. I am particularly interested in the following:
- Maps that helped make a decision
- Maps that helped communities work together
- Maps that helped communicate a message or tell a story
- High-quality and/or interesting cartographic displays (both two and three dimensional)
- Maps that illustrate spatial analysis, modeling, and science
- Maps that illustrate integration with other systems
- ArcGIS technology applications
- ArcGIS Server or other Internet map server technology applications
To incorporate your images into this presentation, I must receive them by Thursday, July 3, 2008.
Thank you in advance for your help. It will be my pleasure to share your work with the other conference attendees. I look forward to seeing you soon!
Warm regards,
Jack Dangermond
